Infant Education

Infant Education is for children aged from 1 to 6 years old. It is divided into two cycles:
  • NURSERY: made up of two levels, Nursery 1 and Nursery 2 for children aged from 1 to 3 years old.
  • INFANTS: combining three levels, Infants 1, Infants 2 and Infants 3 for children from 3 to 6 years of age.

The Infant stage has its own building tailored to the needs of children of these ages.

The development of language skills in all the subjects is one of the principle objectives of the centre’s educational targets which is complimented by the development of physical, cognitive, social, adaptational and emotional skills.

English is the main language used in Infant education and the language used during the different activities offered. Each Infant group has its own English tutor who is responsible for the learning process of the group and of each individual member. The tutor is the person responsible for helping the children adapt and feel secure and part of the group. In Nursery 1, 2 and Infants 1 there is always a full time English educational assistant working with the form tutor.

There is also a daily session of Catalan which is integrated into the curricular programme for the Nursery and Infant stages.

We recommend the incorporation of children in Infants because of the benefits of a gradual immersion into the new language.

We consider play and the development of motor skills a characteristic element of Infant education and for this reason the school offers various areas and open spaces where the children can develop different types of games and play.

Amongst other facilities the Infant school has areas such as a large room divided into play corners, another hall used for body co-ordination and movement and a heated pool all adapted to the physical needs of children from 1 to 6 years old.

In the school playground the children can enjoy a large sandpit, a miniature football pitch suited to their age, various climbing frames around the playground and have a wide range of educational material which add to their enjoyment in play.

Our methodology is based on encouraging children to be active and autonomous while constantly stimulating their development, their initiative to learn and their creativity, helping them to adapt to different situations.

The school year is divided into three terms each of which has its own programme of work. The development of the children is under continuous assessment and is conveyed to the parents through parent interviews and term reports of the progress made where the child is evaluated on the process of acquisition of knowledge and abilities.
